Saturday AWR Hawkins, made this compelling case at Breitbart that America’s wonderful troops are under the bus with grandma and Jeremiah Wright:
Obama Throws Soldiers in Afghanistan Under the Bus
From the moment Barack Obama undertook his American apology tour just months after his inauguration, it was evident that we were going to project weakness on the world stage via our foreign policy. It was Obama’s way of paying penance for the evils our nation had committed during the Bush administration.
Sadly, this also meant our military was going to fight from a posture of weakness, and as a result, nearly every effort begun under Obama has been one that gives the benefit of the doubt to our enemies. And as of late, this has gotten so bad that our troops are literally at risk under Obama.
Let me say at the start that our troops aren’t weak; they are the best and bravest in the world. However, they are being hamstrung by top-down policies reminiscent of those imposed on our combat troops during the Vietnam War.
Consider Obama’s first response to news that Islamic religious materials that “contained extremist messages or inscriptions” had been taken from detainees and burned at Bagram Air Field. He immediately apologized. Then he offered a “severe apology” and even sent an administration official to a mosque in the Washington DC area to offer an apology in person. When our enemies looked at this, they saw a president who was so eager to apologize for America that he couldn’t stop doing it once he started. And this screams weakness.
And then, to prove he was really sorry, Obama’s DOD put out new guidelines on how our military could and couldn’t handle Islamic religious materials which “contained extremist messages or inscriptions.” These rules included the admonition that “verbal disrespect for Islam and/or the Quran is as inappropriate as physical desecration of the Quran.” In other words, within weeks of the original burning incident at Bagram, Obama’s DOD issued new rules that painted our troops as infidels and forbad them from even speaking negatively of the Quran in the future.
Then came the news that Obama had agreed to transfer five Guantanamo detainees to Qatar. All five were Afghans, and the hope was that this would allow them to reunite with their families and perhaps pacify the Taliban in the process. Of course, since the announcement about the detainees was made, the Taliban has told Obama to take this job and shove i;: they are not interested in holding talks with him.
Enter Obama’s Sec. of Defense, Leon Panetta, who added the next chapter to this story by demanding our troops be disarmed before sitting in his presence. The reason given was because the Afghan trainees who were going to be in his presence wouldn’t be armed either, and we wouldn’t want them to feel singled out, would we?
Then came the most groundbreaking news of all: NATO cleared our troops of “malicious” intent in the Quran burning incident. Said NATO investigators: “The burning of the Qurans was improper but was not a malicious act intended to show disrespect for Afghans or Islam.” Of course, it’s too late now, as Obama has forced American troops to bear culpability for the incident via his incessant apologies.
It would have been nice if Obama had waited for the investigation results before sacrificing our dignity on the world stage, but alas, he wouldn’t. So now, I fear that a man who’s this quick to throw American under the bus will have no trouble throwing America’s troops under that same bus, if that’s the price of appeasement.
