The Word Advent Is Latin for a Coming or an Arrival
Coming? Arrival? Coming of what? For the coming of a little baby. Advent season gives us each 24 days to prepare our hearts for the celebration of this arrival. So—What child is this? Here is the explanation from Isaiah (40: 3-5):
The Lord did not come in His Power and majesty. He came as a child, a new born baby. On this first day of Advent, be lifted, with me, into a season of meditation and joy with the inspiration of William Chatterton Dix who, nearly 150 years ago, penned the carol (hymn), What Child is this? Get your Christmas Carol book out and sing!
We are blessed with many wonderful presentations of this worship of His coming. This one from Martina McBride is one of my favorites. Enjoy:
Thank you Richard for a wonderful gift of the season, Harry
