A strategy to fight global warming and display patience with —you know who and you know what
The National Security Strategy for the United States of America began under President Harry Truman in response to the expansion of Soviet Communism. That National Security Strategy worked, with very little change, for more than four decades under nine Presidents—four Democrats and five Republicans. President (“daddy”) Bush was in office when the Soviet Union fell and, while he spoke of a “new world Order,” did nothing about a new national security strategy. President Clinton found no need for a national security strategy.
The next National Security Strategy was adopted by President George W Bush in direct response to 911. It was rewritten in 2006. President Obama trashed it January 20, 2009.
I have actually not read the new Obama National Security Strategy but am working from a White house “Fact Sheet.” President Truman would, at the least, vomit if he read what you will read in the next few minutes!
Samples from a White House “Fact Sheet” on The 2015 National Security Strategy with reaction from me in italics
“Today, the United States is stronger and better positioned to seize the opportunities of a still new century and safeguard our interests against the risks of an insecure world. The President’s new National Security Strategy provides a vision and strategy for advancing the nation’s interests, universal values, and a rules-based international order through strong and sustainable American leadership. The strategy sets out the principles and priorities that describe how America will lead the world toward greater peace and a new prosperity.” —Today the United States is weaker and in no position to “seize opportunities.” What universal values? What rules-based international order? What American Leadership? Lead toward greater peace?—what a joke. Prosperity?—demonstrate it at home!
Here are a few examples that would cause even President Carter to vomit:
“We will advance respect for universal values at home and around the world by:
“Holding ourselves to the highest possible standard” —No standards for Islamic Jihad of course.
“Leading the way in confronting the corruption by promoting adherence to standards of accountable and transparent governance.” —Physician heal thyself. We heard that 7 years ago—we have experienced the most corrupt administration in modern history with no accountability and no transparency!
“Leading the international community to prevent and respond to … gender-based violence and discrimination against LGBT persons.” —Give me a break! Don’t bring this up again until you can say terrorist, Islamist, jihad, jihadist and Islamic Jihad for starters.
“We will advance an international order that promotes peace, security, and opportunity through stronger cooperation to meet global challenges by:
“Working with partners to reinforce and update the rules of the road, norms, and institutions that are foundational to peace, prosperity, and human dignity in the 21st century.” —I am speechless except to say I am ashamed to be an American!
Strengthening and growing our global alliances and partnerships, forging diverse coalitions, and leading at the United Nations and other multilateral organizations.” —How? And for What? Oh, and I am still ashamed to be an American!
“Rebalancing to Asia and the Pacific through increased diplomacy, stronger alliances and partnerships, expanded trade and investment, and a diverse security posture.” —We, of course were not unbalanced away from the Pacific and Truman would certainly vomit again at the thought of “diverse security posture.”
“Pursuing a stable Middle East and North Africa by countering terrorism, preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and reducing the underlying sources of conflict.” —How?
“Promoting a prosperous, secure, and democratic Western Hemisphere by expanding integration and leveraging a new opening to Cuba to expand our engagement.” —What a joke!
The President has many committed staffers set to take America on a two year fantasy and they will! Enemies from North Korea to China to Russia to Pakistan to Iran to the Sunni jihadists to, incredibly, Turkey have already taken notice. They will be pursuing hard edged goals with no concern about America. Some, Iran comes to mind, may have already written America off as a “weak horse” not likely to ever be in a position to challenge them when this fantasy ends in 2017.
