ONE NATION TOUR: LEG II, DAY FOUR: NATIONAL WORLD WAR I MUSEUM AND LIBERTY MEMORIAL, KANSAS CITY, MO

Sarah Palin and her family bring our attention to an obscure national treasure loaded with meaning for us and our posterity.

Liberty Memorial and Museum

The Meaning in Sarah’s Words

The Liberty Memorial Tower is dedicated “In honor of those who served in the W orld War in defense of liberty and our country.” Reading the many memorial inscriptions while standing in the rain was a somber and humbling reminder of the sacrifices young Americans made nearly a century ago in distant battlefields so far from home. So many of them never returned from those fields in France and Belgium. Yes, it was a somber, real, significant moment reading those words about the honor in one’s dedication to God and country.

The main inscription on the memorial reads: “These have dared bear the torches of sacrifice and service. Their bodies return to dust but their work liveth evermore. Let us strive on to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations.”

I took the above photo of Piper and my niece McKinley with the memorial in the background. It brought home to me what this “One Nation Tour” is about. It’s about the duty we have not just to the living, but also to the dead and to the generations yet to be born. Our founders called us the “heirs of freedom,” and as such we have a duty to those who have already paid the price for us to live in freedom, and we have a duty to those who will come after us.

Our freedom was purchased by millions of men now long-forgotten throughout our history who charged the cannons, ran into bayonets, suffered in the trenches, and gave their lives so that we could live in relative comfort doing what we feel led to do. We can’t squander what they gave us or what the next generation expects from us. This is why visiting these historic sites and bringing your children to see them is so important. This is why I wanted to bring my own children with me to show them our history and remind them that America’s children will carry the torch of freedom one day.

Thank you all for your support and for sharing this leg through the Heartland of the “One Nation Tour” with us.

DID BERNARD GOLDBERG ATTACK MICHELE BACHMANN OR WAS IT REALLY JESUS CHRIST HE RAILED AGAINST?

Judging the King of Kings and Lord of lords in America.

Ignorance or Anti-Christian bigotry, Mr. Goldberg?

Bernard Goldberg lit into Michele Bachmann with the fervor of ASCS’ Barry W. Lynn on The O’Reilly Factor Monday night for her response to the question she is being asked, “You said, in your marriage, you submit yourself to your husband. How will that work if you become President?”

Bachmann’s response is (generally), “I am fortunate to have had the wonderful Marcus Bachmann for my husband for 33 years. What that means is we have mutual respect.”

Goldberg said, on O’Reilly, “No, it doesn’t. Submission does not mean mutual respect. Michele Bachmann is changing her story . . .” And has lost credibility with the country in Goldberg’s view. Goldberg was genuinely angry about it.

Perhaps Goldberg simply dislikes Bachmann. A second possibility is Bernie Goldberg holds forth with wrath while being ill prepared and uninformed. (He has a long distinguished, award winning career that belies that conclusion.) Or, perhaps he detests Christianity and reacts to any public evidence of its adherence and its practice.

Here is the Christian teaching, Ephesians 5:20-28 (21st Century King James Holy Bible, 2nd printing, pg NT 334):

. . . giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord; for the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church, and He is the savior of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it, that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He hat loveth his wife loveth himself.

Starting with verse 20, “submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God,” means exactly “mutual respect.” That’s exactly “mutual respect.”

The husband, the wife is to submit to, must love her “as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it, that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He hat loveth his wife loveth himself.”

Michele Bachmann brilliantly said that her husband of 33 years is a husband defined by those words. Christ loves the church perfectly. So she has mutual respect together with her husband. I believe Goldberg is, in this case that second example; he doesn’t have a clue but he, like 99% of secular America, goes ahead and rants. But make no mistake, when they judge Michele Bachmann for her faith, they judge the King of king and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ.

The Bachmanns, in their personal and family life, in their business and in public service do not wish any homosexual ill. Further there is nothing offensive about the Bachmann clinical practice with homosexuals. It is, rather, the American Psychological Association, its views and practices that damage many homosexual patients. Political correctness is the foundation and frame for this insane “Alice in Wonderland” worldview and system.

ONE NATION TOUR: LEG II, DAYs 2 & 3: THE GIPPER, THE RAIL SPLITTER, THE STORYTELLER

The One nation Tour can be thought of as the Great Awakening Tour.

There is no doubt, Sarah and Todd Palin know we’re in this Great Awakening and they know their task. In three days, they met their bus in Moline, IL; drove to Des Moines for a day at the Iowa State Fair, Drove from Des Moines to Dixon IL for Ronald Reagan’s boyhood home and to the Ronald Reagan Museum at his alma mater, Eureka College.

Sunday, they drove to Springfield and toured the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. They went west Sunday afternoon to “America’s Hometown,” Hannibal, MO. Hannibal is Mark Twain’s hometown. The inclusion of Hannibal clearly is a shot at political correctness.

All that in three days—incredible! Here’s the territory:

TIM PAWLENTY —A GOOD MAN and GREAT GOVERNOR— NEXT ROLE: HISTORIC SENATOR

Governor Pawlenty ended his bid for the Presidency Sunday.

“This has been an incredible process, it has been a great honor for Mary and me. I’m very very grateful to the people of Iowa and this country who I had a chance to make my case to and the supporters and staff and friends who have been so loyal and helpful.” Governor Pawlenty told ABC’S Jake Tapper Sunday morning. “I congratulate Congresswoman Bachmann for her victory,” he said.

LA Times:

One of the fatal wounds to Pawlenty’s campaign may have been self-inflicted.

At the GOP debate on Aug. 11 at Iowa State University — in the same venue that would later house the straw poll—Pawlenty went after Bachmann’s record and accomplishments on stage after Fox News anchor Chris Wallace asked, “Is she unqualified, or is she just leading you in the polls?”

That caused Bachmann to retaliate in an exchange that many felt ultimately favored Bachmann, who took the opportunity to burnish her image as a fighter on principle.

This is an incorrect assessment. Governor Pawlenty’s testy attack on Congresswoman Bachmann was not a cause of the Pawlenty failure, it was a result. Clearly, Governor Pawlenty already knew his campaign was sunk or sinking.

Governor Pawlenty is famously a hockey fanatic.

With 1.5 minutes remaining in a mythical hockey game between the Minnesota Pawlentys and the Minnesota Bachmanns, the Minnpaws are down 3-1. A whistle blows and the Minnpaws are assessed a (2 minute) penalty. Shorthanded, defenseman Tim sees Minnbachs star center, Michele, streaking across the blue line with the puck where he high-sticks her and slams her into the ice.

Ask Brian Sullivan, who Pawlenty beat in 2002 for the Republican endorsement for Governor, if Governor Pawlenty knows the game and the score or not. Do not think for one minute that Governor Pawlenty did not know what the score was or how much time was on the clock at the debate Thursday night.

Note Pawlenty’s generous words towards Bachmann Sunday with Jake Tapper.

Congresswoman Bachmann, while not a hockey fanatic, also knew the reason for the “high stick.” She also knew who won the “game” and she is moving up to the next contest. Here is her generous statement Sunday morning: “This morning I spoke with Gov. Pawlenty to express my respect and admiration for him, and to wish him and his family well. Running for president requires enormous self-sacrifice. Gov. Pawlenty brought an important voice and ideas to the campaign, and he served the people of Minnesota and our country well. Our party and our country are better as a result of his service and commitment.”

Pawlenty for United States Senate in 2012

Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar is up for Reelection in 2012. Senator Klobuchar is a friendly gracious woman. Anyone who has met her, as I have, can tell you she is personable and likable. Minnesotans do generally not vote against likable incumbents. And Klobuchar will have the left-wing Minnesota “lame stream media” working with organized labor for her—to say nothing of voter fraud.

But the likable Amy Klobuchar has a problem; she votes down the line with Pelosi- Reid-Obama. For Minnesotans, this election will be about regaining a future for their children and grandchildren. In this environment, Michele Bachmann could have won against Klobachar and so can Tim Pawlenty. Again, Amy Klobuchar votes down the line with Pelosi- Reid-Obama —stimulus, Obamacare, restrict drilling— the works.

Governor Pawlenty will campaign on and work in the Senate to Overturn Obamacare, pass real healthcare reform, see the restructuring and resizing of the United States Government and, one more thing, he’ll help take the restrictions off of America’s productive capacity. Pawlenty is a proven legislator. He was an effective Majority Leader of the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Governor Pawlenty may need a few days to unwind but he must consider the United States Senate.

MICHELE WINS AMES STRAW POLL! LOOK OUT MR. “ONE TERM PRESIDENT” OBAMA

I thought Toby Harnden had an excellent analysis of all the events Friday. He is the US Editor for the UK Daily Telegraph. Consider his 10 things to take away from Ames; What Michele Bachmann’s win means:

1. Michele Bachmann is now in the top tier of candidates, which comprises Mitt Romney, Rick Perry and the Minnesota congresswoman. Let’s not get carried away – in some respects this was the situation a week ago. Ames cemented a few trends rather than changing the dynamic of the race. Winning the Iowa caucuses does not mean winning the GOP nomination. And winning the Ames Straw Poll doesn’t mean winning the caucuses. A lot of the significance attached to Ames is because there were so many journalists here. So a little perspective is needed on the significance of the 16,892 ballots cast.

Outside the top three, it is hard to see how any other candidate can win the Republican nomination.

3. Tim Pawlenty’s campaign is now likely to die a slow death, with fundraising dropping off and recriminations beginning. Pawlenty has been very unlucky in some ways but the fact that he ran a good, well-disciplined Ames straw poll campaign makes things even worse for him now.

4. Perry entered the race with a strong speech in Charleston and a visit to New Hampshire. Word is the logistics were near flawless – impressive on day one of a campaign. Perry supporters in Iowa mounted a proper effort to get him write-in votes and that paid off – 718 for a man not on the ballot or in the race when voting began is noteworthy. His candidacy is likely to be a game changer but the next two weeks will be crucial. He will be scrutinised very heavily and he needs to deliver.

5. Ron Paul came a very close second. He is an important voice in American politics but he is 75, way outside the mainstream of the Republican party on foreign policy and will not be the nominee.

6. Romney’s decision not to compete at Ames was a clever one. He would almost certainly have lost to Bachmann, who was born in Iowa, and probably Ron Paul too. By staying out, he emerged unscathed. But now that Perry is in the race Romney cannot maintain his front runner status by staying above the fray and emerging from contests unscathed. The coming weeks will be a real test for him.

7. The battle is now on for Romney, in particular, to define Perry in order to stop the momentum he will gain from a good announcement and the inevitabe excitement over a new face. Romney will try to portray Perry as a career politician at a time when a businessman and outsider is needed. This will be tough, however, because of Perry’s life story, his Tea Party credibility and the fact he’s a Texan. And, let’s face it, Romney’s an unlikely outsider.

8. It’s hard to see how Jon Huntsman’s candidacy continues.

9. Bachmann may have won Ames but Perry’s entry into the race could make the day a net loss in terms of her chances of actually winning the nomination. Perry is a strong evangelical from a humble background who is viscerally anti-Washington and a natural Tea Party candidate. All of that eats into Bachmann’s support.

10. Sarah Palin received less than one percent of the vote. The law of diminishing returns now seems to be applying to her teasing appearances in between periods of going dark. It hard to imagine that she will really decide to run in 2012 now that Perry’s in – and even harder to see her having a serious chance of winning the nomination.

His comments about Sarah Palin’s chances are only speculation. We have no good way to evaluate her decision let alone what it will mean.

Notice in point 9, Mr. Harnden says, “. . . could make the day a net loss . . .” He did not say it would. I agree. You may know that Michele Bachmann is my friend. There is no doubt, Perry candidacy will make her better and her operation is near flawless. Governor Romney is the front runner. He could stumble and fade. Assuming he does not, I believe Governor Perry and Congresswoman Bachmann will be strengthened by the others presence. They actually need each other. All three know that only one will prevail.

Thoughts about (my former) Governor, Tim Pawlenty: He is being written off by virtually every pundit. He is a gifted and good man. In my view, he was the best governor in Minnesota history. It saddened me to see him stoop to the depths he did in the debate as he lashed out at Representative Bachmann. That performance will, unfortunately, remain a stain on his record.

Some Minnesota commentators, in the tank for Governor Pawlenty, have also behaved like spoiled brats or worse; maybe even like Barak Obama.

“YOU CANNOT WIN THE FUTURE BY SELLING AMERICA OFF TO FOREIGN CREDITORS”—PERRY IS IN

The Republican presidential political turf shifted yesterday like an 8.8 earthquake.

In Iowa the 2011 Ames Straw Poll showed the Republican establishment that We the People (TEA parties and all) will accept only those who heed our voices to lead our cause and our nation.

In South Carolina the governor of America’s most important State, Texas, declared his candidacy. Governor Rick Perry gave a speech Americans have been waiting to hear. The speech was heard in Iowa and will be heard in New Hampshire. More importantly, the speaker, Governor Perry, will be heard in Washington and New York and every inner sanctum of inside power in America and beyond. Here are a few high points:

“For the First Time Ever, the Tax and Spend and Borrow Agenda of This President Lead to the Downgrading of the Credit Rating of the United States of America.”

In reality, though, this is just the most recent downgrade. The fact is for three years, President Obama has been:

  • downgrading our jobs
  • downgrading our standing in the world
  • downgrading our financial stability
  • downgrading our confidence  and
  • downgrading our hope for a better future for our children.

We don’t need a president who apologizes for America. We need a president who protects and projects those values.

To those [foreign adversaries] who harm our interests—we will not simply be scoldin’ you; we will defeat you.

In America, the people are not subjects of the government, the government is subject to the people.

It’s up to us, this present generation of Americans, to send a message to Washington.

Please take the time for every word.

WHEN ECONOMIC FREEDOM IS UP, POVERTY IS DOWN; WHEN ECONOMIC FREEDOM IS DOWN, POVERTY IS UP

The United States should be leading the world in promoting and establishing economic freedom. In fact, we are sliding down the ranks of countries!

For 17 years, The Heritage Foundation and the Wall Street Journal have published an Index of Economic Freedom with World Rankings of the countries.

The 2011 Index has Hong Kong and Singapore one and two and North Korea dead last as usual. The United States of America is in 9th place but our score is down again.

Here is a valuable visual tool (video) from Economic Freedom.org that effectively shows cause and effect.

Please use it with those who count on you for understanding in this present conflict.

BARAK OBAMA IS AMERICA’S WORST PRESIDENT BUT, MORE IMPORTANT, HE IS THE MOST LAWLESS PRESIDENT EVER

You may have heard one of the early controversial NLRB actions was to deny Boeing the right to build a plant in South Carolina. The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is investigating this outrage.

Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) said Friday, “The National Labor Relations Board and Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon have thus far failed to comply with a lawful subpoena. This refusal by NLRB to abide by the law further heightens concerns that this is a rogue agency acting improperly.

“The public has a right to know the truth about why a government agency would choose to take action to benefit organized labor that threatens thousands of non-union jobs in South Carolina while setting a precedent impacting manufacturers across the country.

“It is imperative that Congress get complete facts about NLRB’s decision-making process in this matter. Its continued refusal to fully cooperate will not deter this Committee as it moves forward in efforts to determine what occurred and to hold NLRB officials to account.”

Here, in part, is NLRB Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon’s response: “The NLRB did send 4,300 pages of documents which should provide sufficient information to allow the Committee to assess the legal merit of the Boeing complaint . . . full compliance with the subpoena threatens to undermine the Agency’s independence.”

Mr. Solomon is Acting General Counsel because he cannot be confirmed in the United States Senate. The President has also appointed, without confirmation, Progressive radicals to the NLRB board. They are, Mary Beth Maxwell, Craig Becker, Mark Pearce, and Amy Dean.

So We the People are to have no recourse or power concerning any NLRB act because of, “the Agency’s independence.” Outrageous and unacceptable. This stealing of America must and will be stopped.

ONE NATION TOUR: LEG II, DAY ONE; CHECKIN’ LIVESTOCK IN THE HEARTLAND

Leg I was Liberty, the founding and government of by and for “We the People.” Now Leg II is the heartland called, “perfect territory for more of the One Nation Tour as we put forth efforts to revitalize the fundamental restoration of America by highlighting our nation’s heart, history, and founding principles.”

As they came to the barns, the cattle responded pretty much like normal people at the spectacle of the national press on the prowl—they spooked and nearly stampeded. Nevertheless, the Palin family got the chance to check out the quality of Iowa livestock.

The LA Times said, “It was just like a campaign visit. Except it wasn’t.”
