FORTY SEVEN YEARS AGO TODAY

John F. Kennedy was assonated.

If you are 60 or older you will remember where you were when you heard. You’ll remember the circumstances or context. You’ll likely remember the local weather. If you were a Republican partisan, you’ll remember being as numb as your Democrat friends. You’ll remember Democrats did not call you, “The enemy” in those days. It was a different time. Most of us remember this picture being in black and white:

Democrats today do not talk like Kennedy. I wonder if they would be in the same party with him. Here is a bit of what he said:

“We observe today not a victory of party but a celebration of freedom ―symbolizing an end as well as a beginning ―signifying renewal as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forbears prescribed nearly a century and three-quarters ago.

The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe ―the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.

We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans ―born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage ―and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world. . . .

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.” (From Inaugural Address January 20, 1961.)

OH, I DID NOT RECALL

IN This Post at Power Line . . .

John Hinderaker, referring to the U.S.—NATO—Russian missile defense deal, writes:

Maybe the Obama plan is different from President Reagan’s in that it will protect Europe but not the United States; or maybe because NATO will control the system; or maybe because Russia is now involved in the plan. But it is disorienting to those of us who remember the Cold War, and the Democrats’ frequently discreditable role in its later stages, to see a Democratic President taking credit for missile defense as a signal foreign policy achievement.

We watch leftist and democrats (but, I repeat myself) defend Islamism and Shariah law and attack patriots when we act or speak to defend Liberty. Most, like me, wonder in befuddlement (a real word), “From whence comist that?” Of course, the leftist and Democrats (but, I repeat myself) took the same posture against Ronald Reagan as he took on the Soviets including missile defense research. Come to think about it, they are not defined by what they favor; they are rather defined by what they are against —the United States and the Declaration of Independence. Let us not be taken in by them now or in the future.

THE IMAGES OF ELECTION 2012

The Image of the Destruction of the Fourth Amendment.

It is this TSA scan

of Americans

Please take time to see disturbing video. Scenes repeated more than 250,000 times each day in America. This video shows the reality of the image negatives. They are not destroyed,  they are availabile and can be developed to positives. Again this is disturbing.

This video shows “unreasonable” TSA searches.

I do not disagree with the outrage discribed as unreasonable but the key word is not unreasonable, it is unconstitutional.

The TSA sexual assault on America is not Constitutional. Let us look at the oaths taken by the President, the Secretary of Homeland Security and every officer and staffer throughout TSA.

The Constitution of the United States consists of a Preamble, Seven Articles and twenty seven Amendments. The Constitution provides that oaths to the Constitution shall be taken by all Federal employees. The oath for the President is prescribed in Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution. Oaths for all other employees are prescribed by Statutory Law.

Oath of Office for the President:

Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution.  Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:–“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States” (so help me God).

Oath of Office for all Federal Employees:

An individual, except the President, elected or appointed to an office of honor or profit in the civil service or uniformed services, shall take the following oath.  Title 5, Part III, Subpart B, Chapter 33, Subchapter II, § 3331:
“I, _______, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;  that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion;  and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

Now let us apply those thousands of oaths to faithfully discharge those (Constitutional) Duties to the Fourth Amendment ratified December 15, 1791:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

OH DARN! From Obama to Napolitano to TSA Administrator John S. Pistole to every TSA employee, particularly those abusing hundreds of thousands every day, they are all violating the fourth amendment. What are you going to do about it?

THE FACE OF ELECTION 2012

I agree with the “Ruling Class”

President Obama is really smart. This means he knew what he was doing in his policy and decisions that led to this result Wednesday, November 17, 2010:

Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, Tanzania, was found guilty on one count and acquitted  on 276 counts Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in a U.S. District Court in New York. The charges were for Islamist terrorist attacks  against U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1988. The Islamists declared war as early as the 1979 bombings (U.S. Embassy Teheran), certainly no later than the World Trade Center bombing in 1993.

President Bush correctly recognized this as war after the September 11, 2001 attack on America.

President Obama has expressed a different view and policy clearly: Overseas contingency operation; Islam is a religion of peace; the Ft. Hood massacre was from psychological disturbances and, of course, try overseas contingencies operators in American Civilian courts with you and me picking up the tab for the defense just to make it fair.

Mark it down, Ghailani today becomes the face of Obama (and the Democrats who follow him) in the 2012 election. Here is the face:

This face will be connect to Barak Obama as firmly as Monica Lewinsky’s was connected to Bill Clinton. The only thing that will change this pictures is more fiascos thus more faces.

Update: My information (NYT) of 277 counts was incorrect. The correct number appears to be:

Convicted 1 count.

Acquitted 284 counts.

AT THE CORE OF THE TEAM: SARAH

Celebrating Sarah as She Becomes the Second Member of Our

Remaking and Restoring America Team.

“When you take your oath to support and defend our Constitution and to faithfully discharge the duties of your office, remember that present and future generations of “We the People” are counting on you to stand by that oath. Never forget the people who sent you to Washington. Never forget the trust they placed in you to do the right thing.” Sarah to the new Congress

Last Sunday, November 14, the first episode of Sarah Palin’s Alaska broke all vewer records at TLC. It is shown (the next 7) Sunday’s at 8:00 CST. Get the rest HERE. While She is exploding among the (Rush dubbed) Country Class. According to many in (Rush dubbed) Governing Class, she is a tornado on the loose destroying the opportunity for right of center governance for America. Here’s how one of my favorite observers, Stuart Schwartz sizes it up at the American Thinker.

Sarah Palin, the Biggest Loser?

That seems to be the consensus of the grandees inhabiting Washington and New York and pockets of glitter beyond. There is a variety of interpretations of the midterm Republican wave emanating from the wine bars of upper Manhattan and the salons of Georgetown, but most include the notion that for Sarah Palin, this election was the political equivalent of the hit ABC show “The Biggest Loser.” When push came to shove, she stood on…principle?

Media and political elites may disagree on the many consequences of what the president called a “shellacking” by the voters, but they largely agree that the biggest loser was Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin has once again been flagged for her unwillingness to play the game according to how the media and political professionals want it played. For them, it is a game, with taxpayer dollars as Monopoly money. But for Sarah Palin, it’s about beliefs and values and service —which disqualifies her, in their view, from life between the political lines. Sure, she won —having helped more than sixty candidates to victory— but, as Rush Limbaugh pointed out, the political and media elites are “a little miffed” at how the Tea Party and Palin put principle ahead of politics. C’mon, lady —professionals don’t do core beliefs! . . . .

Immediately following the election, the nation’s elites went on Sarah Palin Alert. . . . Read it all HERE.

Reclaiming and Restoring? You bet’ja, Sarah’s our gal!

Ethel C. Fenig, Also at the American Thinker, said Tuesday, Sarah Palin can see Washington DC from her house. Feneg then Nailed down her point:

The ability to see Russia from your house focuses the mind and gives you insight that just isn’t available to those living inside Washington’s Beltway, New York’s Upper West Side or snuggled up against our west coast. And since Sarah Palin so clearly sees Russia from her house she shares her solid insights with the new incoming Republican members of Congress. Freshmen Democrats, indeed experienced Congressional members should also heed her advice.

Right past the Media, right past the establishment and right on time, Sarah hits another one right out of the park. Five hundred thirty five members of the new Congress and tens of thousands of staff, media, establishment are reading her counsel. So should every American. You can read it all here, then keep it for frequent reference in these coming months:

And Now, Sarah Palin

Welcome to all Republican Freshmen and congratulations!

Congratulations to all of you for your contribution to this historic election, and for the contributions I am certain you will make to our country in the next two years. Your victory was hard fought, and the success belongs entirely to you and the staff and volunteers who spent countless hours working for this chance to put government back on the side of the people. Now you will come to Washington to serve your nation and leave your mark on history by reining in government spending, preserving our freedoms at home, and restoring America’s leadership abroad. Some of you have asked for my thoughts on how best to proceed in the weeks and months ahead and how best to advance an agenda that can move our country forward. I have a simple answer: stick to the principles that propelled your campaigns. When you take your oath to support and defend our Constitution and to faithfully discharge the duties of your office, remember that present and future generations of “We the People” are counting on you to stand by that oath. Never forget the people who sent you to Washington. Never forget the trust they placed in you to do the right thing.

The task before you is daunting because so much damage has been done in the last two years, but I believe you have the chance to achieve great things.

Republicans campaigned on a promise to rein in out-of-control government spending and to repeal and replace the massive, burdensome, and unwanted health care law President Obama and the Democrat Congress passed earlier this year in defiance of the will of the majority of the American people. These are promises that you must keep. Obamacare is a job-killer, a regulatory nightmare, and an enormous unfunded mandate. The American people don’t want it and we can’t afford it. We ask, with all due respect, that you remember your job will be to work to replace this legislation with real reform that relies on free market principles and patient-centered policies. The first step is, of course, to defund Obamacare.

You’ve also got to be deadly serious about cutting the deficit. Despite what some would like us to believe, tax cuts didn’t get us into the mess we’re in. Government spending did. Tough decisions need to be made about reducing government spending. The longer we put them off, the worse it will get. We need to start by cutting non-essential spending. That includes stopping earmarks (because abuse of the earmark process created the “gateway-drug” that allowed backroom deals and bloated budgets), canceling all further spending on the failed Stimulus program, and rolling back non-discretionary spending to 2008 levels. You can do more, but this would be a good start.

In order to avert a fiscal disaster, we will also need to check the growth of spending on our entitlement programs. That will be a huge challenge, but it must be confronted head on. We must do it in a humane way that honors the government’s current commitments to our fellow Americans while also keeping faith with future generations. We cannot rob from our children and grandchildren’s tomorrow to pay for our unchecked spending today. Beyond that, we need to reform the way Congress conducts business in order to make it procedurally easier to cut spending than to increase it. We need to encourage zero-based budgeting practices in D.C. like the kind fiscally conservative mayors and governors utilize to balance their budgets and reduce unnecessary spending.

There in the insulated and isolated Beltway you will be far removed from the economic pain felt by so many Americans who are out of work. Please remember that if we want real job growth, we must create a stable investment climate by ending the tidal wave of overly burdensome regulations coming out of Washington. Businesses need certainty – and freedom that incentivizes competition – to grow and expand our workforce.

The last thing our small businesses need is tax hikes. It falls to the current Democrat-controlled Congress to decide on the future of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts. If it does not permanently renew all of them, you should move quickly to do so in the new Congress. It would remove from households and businesses the threat of a possible $3.8 trillion tax hike hitting all Americans at the worst possible moment, with our economy struggling to recover from a deep recession! You must continue to remind Democrats that the people they are dismissing as “rich” are the small business owners who create up to 70% of all jobs in this country!

Another issue of vital importance is border security. Americans expect our leadership in Washington to act now to secure our borders. Don’t fall for the claims of those who suggest that we can’t secure our borders until we simultaneously deal with the illegal immigrants already here. Let’s deal with securing the border first. That alone is a huge challenge that has been ignored for far too long.

On foreign policy and national security, I urge you to stick to our principles: strong defense, free trade, nurturing allies, and steadfast opposition to America’s enemies.  We are the most powerful country on earth and the world is better off because of it.  Our president does not seem to understand this. If we withdraw from the world, the world will become a much more dangerous place. You must push President Obama to finish the job right in Iraq and get the job done in Afghanistan, otherwise we who are war-weary will forever question why America’s finest are sent overseas to make the ultimate sacrifice with no clear commitment to victory from those who send them. You should be prepared to stand with the President against Iran’s nuclear aspirations using whatever means necessary to ensure the mullahs in Tehran do not get their hands on nuclear weapons. And you can stand with the Iranian people who oppose the tyrannical rule of the clerics and concretely support their efforts to win their freedom – even if the President does not.

You need to say no to cutting the necessities in our defense budget when we are engaged in two wars and face so many threats – from Islamic extremists to a nuclear Iran to a rising China. As Ronald Reagan said, “We will always be prepared, so we may always be free.” You will also have the opportunity to push job-creating free trade agreements with allies like Colombia and South Korea. You can stand with allies like Israel, not criticize them. You can let the President know what you believe – Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, not a settlement. And for those of you joining the United States Senate, don’t listen to desperate politically-motivated arguments about the need for hasty consideration of the “New START” treaty.  Insist on your right to patient and careful deliberation of New START to address very real concerns about verification, missile defense, and modernization of our nuclear infrastructure. No New START in the lame duck!

You can stand against misguided proposals to try dangerous, evil terrorists in the US; precipitously close the Guantanamo prison; and a return to the failed policies of the past in treating the war on terror as a law enforcement problem. Finally, you have a platform to express the support of the American people for all those around the world seeking their freedom that God has bestowed within all mankind’s being – from Burma and Egypt to Russia and Venezuela – because the spread of liberty increases our own security. You, freshmen lawmakers, can and will be powerful voices in support of foreign policies that protect our interests and promote our values! Thank you for being willing to fight for our values and our freedom!

In all this, you should extend a hand to President Obama and Democrats in Congress. After this election, they may finally be prepared to work with Republicans on some of these issues for the good of the country. And if not, we will all be looking forward to 2012.

Remember that some in the media will love you when you stray from the time-tested truths that built America into the most exceptional nation on earth. When the Left in the media pat you on the back, quickly reassess where you are and readjust, for the liberals’ praise is a warning bell you must heed. Trust me on that.

I and most Americans are so excited for you. Working together, we have every right to be optimistic about our future. We can be hopeful because real hope lies in the ingenuity, generosity, and boundless courage of the everyday Americans who make our country exceptional. These are the men and women who sent you to Washington. May your work and leadership honor their faith in you.

With sincere congratulations and a big Alaskan heart,

Sarah Palin

CODY’S FLAG AT SCHOOL

Cody had a little Flag, the old red, white and blue,

And everywhere that Cody went, he had his flag there too

He took his flag to school one day which was against the rule

It made the Master shout and flay to see that flag at school

Be sensitive to all offended by those old stars and stripes,

Said Master, but word got out an’ found the Limbaugh pipes!

A motorcycle troupe showed up —and flags? They did abound,

Then Superintendent Ed came to say the light he now had found!

Many in America despise our flag

I know, it is hard for me to understand too. Why would they hate the American Flag? They hate the freedom it represents. This post is about Cody Alicea and the dark force he exposed. But let me set up the reality with “Sage”, a liberal, and his attempt at humor:

Cody’s story comes from a Sacramento TV station, Rush and Retiring CA 19th District Congressman George Radanovich. Read Rush HERE. I will find you a copy of the Radanovich letter [see update]. Finally be inspired and know we are winning as you watch America at its best. Watch this report from KCRATV in  Sacramento and be warmed to see patriotism is not quite dead:

Update: SPEECH OF HON. GEORGE RADANOVICH

of California’s 19th District in the U.S. House of Representatives (revised and extended remarks) MONDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2010

Mr. RADANOVICH. Madam Speaker, I rise today to recognize and honor Cody Alecia, of Denair, California.

What has America come to when a 13-year-old student must be concerned for his safety when he waves the American flag? This past week, Denair Middle School, located in my home district, asked one of their students, Cody Alecia, to remove an American flag he has been proudly displaying on the back of his bicycle for two months. Cody and his family were told that the flag needed to be removed for his own safety, in light of problems that arose during the previous school year when students carried the Mexican flag to the school on Cinco de Mayo. Thankfully, on November 12th, the school district reversed the decision and has informed Cody that he can once again display his flag.

I am pleased that the Denair Unified School District has made the correct decision and is once again allowing Cody to display his flag. However, I am deeply concerned about the circumstances that led to Cody being asked to remove his flag in the first place and want to make every member of the House aware of it. I raise this issue on the floor of the House because I believe what happened to Cody gives us a snapshot of our current national culture. The flag of the United States of America is a symbol of everything that this country stands for —unity, prosperity and freedom. Every morning, in classrooms across America, students of all ages and nationalities pledge their allegiance to the flag and to this country. For an American student to ever be told that displaying the American flag in America may make him a target for violence is a travesty and terrible testament to what is happening in our country.

I am proud of Cody for choosing to display his patriotism, his respect for the men and women who have fought and died for this country, and his love of this country. And I am proud to represent this community, which has displayed such overwhelmingly positive support for Cody. I want to thank “The American Legion Patriot Guard” and the other riders here today, especially the Merced American Legion, Post 83, Patriot Guard, for their organization and passion to the cause. I would also like to thank everyone else who chose to walk and ride to Denair Middle School with Cody this morning and to display their pride in the American flag and the ideals that it represents. I hope many more people will be inspired by Cody’s example and will choose to fly the flag more often.

LET THE CONVERSATION BEGIN

That is: on discarding and replacing the Federal Reserve System

This was not on my “to do list.” But timing is everything. It took the wild excess of Obama’s deficit spending, government expansionism to cause us to say stop. To say hell no! Therefore is not the present destruction of America’s wealth, stored in the monetary system, by the inflation producing “quantitative easing” (QE and QE2) is the perfect timing to call for replacing the Fed?

Mark W. Hendrickson at American Thinker thinks so and has laid out a persuasive case.

FED UP WITH THE FED

It is time (as it has been for decades now) to rethink the role of the Federal Reserve Bank.  An article of this length is insufficient to examine all the problems associated with the Fed, so I will concentrate on three problematical areas:

1) Its record is abominable.

2) Its current policies are misguided and counterproductive.

3) It has become dangerously powerful.

First, its record: When Congress created the Fed nearly 100 years ago (1913) its stated mission was to smooth out the disruptive ups and downs of the business cycle, to stabilize banking system, and to protect the viability of the U.S. dollar.

Since the Fed opened for business in 1914, there have been numerous boom-bust cycles, with the Great Depression, the stagflationary 1974-82 period, and the current “Great Recession” being particularly severe.

Under the Fed’s policies, bank failures have occurred in alarmingly high numbers.

In the century before the Fed’s creation, the purchasing power of the dollar, while subject to the inevitable fluctuations of a market economy, had approximately the same purchasing power in 1914 that it had had in 1814.  Since 1914, more than 95% of the dollar’s purchasing power has eroded.  Money is supposed to function as a store of value.  By that standard, the Fed’s ward, the Federal Reserve Note, has been a miserable failure.

Second, its current policies:  The Fed’s second round of “quantitative easing” (QE2) continues its long tradition of bubble-creating inflationary policies.  In support of QE2, the Federal Open Market Committee’s Sept. 21 statement asserted that price inflation was too low, citing the official Consumer Price Index.

People living in the real world may disagree.  The Commodity Research Bureau’s food index has risen 27% in the last year; cotton is at a 145-year high; oil and gasoline prices have made double-digit gains.  Don’t look now, but the costs of eating, driving, and wearing clothes are trending higher at the very time the Fed plans to inject hundreds of billions of dollars (or trillions, if needed) to prop up Washington and Wall Street. Read the rest here.

THE ULTIMATE STANDARD FOR CONGRESS

Each member of Congress takes an Oath of office. Let us, We the People, commit to hold them to it.

Paragraph three of Article VI of the Constitution of the United States of America states in part:

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned . . . shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

There have been several updates of the original oath taken by members. This current oath was enacted in 1884. As the 112 Congress begins, each member of the House of Representatives and the Senate (except the holdover classes of Senators) will take this oath:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

These are serious words. Read them again. No, please study the words of this oath carefully. Isn’t this the perfect first standard for every vote and every official act of every member of Congress? I submit we should and can hold this standard. The question is, will we? Let us commit today to this standard of measure and to each of us inform each member of the House and each Senator of our plan. Let each of us reach out to Tea Parties and other similar organizations to join us.

REMAKING THE REPUBLICANS, PART V: A TRAP

Announcing the formation of the team to Reclaim and Restore America

We are assembling key members of the team to reclaim and restore America. The team will not be drafted because it is a volunteer force. Many are already at work. There’ll be an announcement as the team takes shape over the next few days. But we need to announce the first member now because of his work Thursday.

He is our permanent MVP

—Rush Limbaugh.

Thursday he framed this issue perfectly:

The Debt Commission is a trap

RUSH, “This debt commission report, Irksome Bowles, Alan Simpson, forget it.  It’s worthless.  The premise is totally corrupt.  Don’t get caught up in debating any of the minutia or the aspects of this thing.  It’s a setup; it is a trap.  All it does is cement the notion of expanded government spending ad infinitum.  I’ll give you a couple of reasons why I’m saying this but I’m not gonna waste my time like I see ’em doing on the news networks dissecting this stuff.  There’s nothing bold about it. There’s nothing revolutionary about it.  It’s a trick.

“The unions are beside themselves.  The unions cannot believe what’s happening.  Because the ratio in this deficit commission report, the ratio of spending cuts to tax increases is 75 to 25.  That alone makes me think the whole thing’s a trap.  Seventy-five percent of the ‘savings’ are spending cuts.  Twenty-five percent of the revenue changes are tax increases.  Well, Pelosi’s looking at that, Durbin is looking at that, and they say, ‘Whoa, there is no way!’ The unions are going bonkers. Our guys are kinda getting sucked in here on the Republican side.  ‘There’s… Well, you know, you have to look at it. There’s some potential here, maybe some things to work with.’

“The dirty little secret about this is that what it does is establish as a premise the notion of gigantic government.  Right after the break, I’m gonna explain this to you.  There was a great post at Ricochet.com, which is a new blog out there by Peter Robinson, and there’s a post by a guy named Steve Manacek, who has analyzed this and has come up with some absolutely scary analysis.  Well, it’s not analysis.  He has found scary admissions in this thing such as the level of government spending expressed as a percentage of GDP.  It’s skyrocketing under this proposal. So all this talk about spending cuts, it’s smoke and mirrors.  Anyway, if Obama has blinked he can be made to blink again.  If we stand firm.”

This is precisely the correct analysis. We all must understand this “Debt Commission Report” is and must be DOA! Remember, we (as a country) must go forward but only after turning around. “We the People” commenced the hard job of turning America around, November 3, 2010. That Debt Commission continues in the wrong direction. Rush has nailed it. We, like Rush, must stay with this. Read the rest HERE.

UPDATE: You do not want to miss Lee Cary’s piece at the American Thinker called, Tales of 57 States: The Deficit Wizards Speak

Here is a smple:

The Deficit Wizards said that, to reduce the Realm’s debt, the people should pay more taxes to the regime and receive fewer gifts. All these things, the Wizards said, would erase most, but not all, of the deficit incurred by the His Obamaness’ regime during his reign as POTUS.

Upon hearing the Wizards speak, the people of the Realm looked at each other and, in the spirit of Alan the Entertainer, said, “I guess these clowns think this is our first rodeo.”  Others asked, “So do we look like turnips?”  And, a few even said, “These two give real wizards a bad name!” Read the rest HERE
