GOVERNOR WALKER TARGETS COMMON CORE

NOTE: Governor Walker has formed a team to explore a run for the Presidency of the United States. I will be his early and steadfast supporter.

The Daily Caller reported Monday that Wisconsin governor Scott Walker “will work with the legislature … to repeal Common Core” The statement renews Governor Walker’s opposition reported in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel last July where he said: “Today, I call on the members of the state Legislature to pass a bill in early January to repeal Common Core and replace it with standards set by people in Wisconsin.”

Common Core was pushed several years ago by then Florida governor Jeb Bush to establish some uniform math and science standards. Many other governors quickly backed the idea. Since coming to power, the Obama administration adopted Common Core and “fundamentally transformed” it.

The Obama Department of Education has tied state qualification for funds from three Federal education programs to compliance with the Federal Common Core. Adding a wide range of social sciences requirements is an apparent way to help fundamentally transform our free America. Perhaps more insidious is the destruction of mathematic application beginning with addition and subtraction. The National Review writes about what they call The Dumbest Common Core Problems:

The Common Core State Standards Initiative is widely denounced for imposing confusing, unhelpful experimental teaching methods. Following these methods, some have created problems that lack essential information or make no sense whatsoever.

Here are eleven Common Core–compliant problems that have caused parents, students, and even teachers to scratch their heads or respond in outrage:

THE DISASTER OF POPE FRANCIS PART I

This is sadly the first of three posts on the incalculable disaster when the College of Cardinals made Jorge Mario Bergoglio Pope

PART I Francis the Pope of the false principle of diversity

It is true that I (born and will die a Protestant) was a huge enthusiast of Pope Benedict XVI. There is not much said about it but many American Protestants have for decades thought Papal international pronouncements reasonably represented all Christians. My worst fears when Pope Francis was chosen and announced nearly two years ago have been realized.

The Vatican should be the leader in promoting the gifts of life and Liberty from Jesus to the world. Under Francis it is not and may never again be because, in promoting 15 Bishops to Cardinal (an additional 5 were named Cardinal ceremonially), Francis functionally established the Vatican as the office for the false principle of diversity for 1.2 billion Catholics. I doubt a single one of those new Cardinals knows anything about Liberty let alone its author. They all are from cultures where the Church promotes redistribution and Liberty is unknown.

Remember diversity is: the state of having people who are different races or who have different cultures in a group or organization. Diversity is a fact.  Left wing institution in America has offices of diversity to count by race, gender, sexual orientation etc. The Roman Catholic Church now has its office of diversity—the Vatican. American universities combine diversity with equity. Expect Francis, the vicar of Rome, to add equity to the his new enterprise at the Vatican which would more resemble an office of Marx than Jesus Christ.

Pope Francis is not done. Neither am I and neither should you be done—especially if you are a Catholic!

A VISION FOR 2015

Sarah Palin has been referring to “This present great awakening” in major speeches since 2009. But there seems to be no evidence for such a claim. Thoughtful believers and nonbelievers alike could declare they see no evidence for Gov Palin’s declaration. There are no Billy Graham type crusades. There are no revivals sweeping America. Christian priests and pastors keep their heads down. Furthermore the 1947 illegal Supreme Court ruling in Everson v. Board of Education has over more than 60 years driven religion (with the exception of Islam) almost entirely from the American culture and society.

Without God—the JudeoChristian God—there could have been no course but the disintegration of morality and virtue that has happened; there could have been no hope that we would not become the ignorant nation we have become.

But wait! God didn’t get the memo! The sovereign creator of the universe is here! The author of Liberty is here! The savior of our fallen and hopelessly sinful race is here! Yes, brothers and sisters, lads and lasses, Jesus is walking in America! He walks with

ESUS.3

every single person who has accepted his gift of life! I predict that in 2015 more and more Americans will publicly acknowledge they are walking with their redeemer and their friend and their Lord!

This is the year that God begins a spectacular comeback in America! The comeback will not be announced in the pulpit or the church but in the hearts of believers! They will join organizations and efforts already at work to bring restoration of morality and virtue. Here are a few examples:

 

  •      Hillsdale College
  •      Institute on the Constitution
  •      National Center for Learning and Civic Engagement
  •      Just rolling out: Project on Christian Citizenship
  •      And never forget so many vital local Tea Party organizations

Be sure to look for others who have been prepared and led to act in leadership. Lastly millions will be in steadfast prayer It will show this year!

522 YEARS AGO ADMIRAL CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS, SERVING CHRIST, CHANGED THE WORLD

On the evening of August 3, 1492, Christopher Columbus left Palos de la Frontera, Spain commencing his voyage to the “Indies” with three Ships (the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria) and 90 men—a voyage that changed the world.

90 days later, October 12, 1492, they landed at, not the “Indies” but one of the Bahama Islands. Columbus named it San Salvador (Holy Savior).

Columbus Was a Hinge of History

Columbus opened the way for Western Civilization and the Name of Christ into what he called “this second part of the earth.” The endowment of the Greek-Roman civilization to Western Europe and the great gift of light, Christianity, made the western hemisphere profoundly superior to anywhere else on earth.

Change Was Immediate

He immediately changed the lives of the Indians on “San Salvador” for ill as well as good. The good is apparent. The Taino, while peaceful, had no culture of their own. They lived off the land much as any animal. They suffered from the plunder of their neighbors, the Caribs to the south and east and the Mayan to the west. This changed for these Taino.

The ill? Disease. Neither the Taino or the Europeans had antibody resistance to new diseases. It was several years before the Spanish brought small pox to San Salvador. This deadly disease ravaged the Taino and beyond. In return, the Spanish, who followed Columbus, received and spread throughout Europe new deadly forms of venereal disease.

A Haven For The Chosen

He led the way to a land (America) which would one day provide the first welcome haven to the Jewish people. You see, after Ferdinand and Isabella defeated and permanently expelled the Islamist Moors, they Commissioned and financed Columbus, a profoundly good thing. But they matched that with an equal in evil—they expelled the Jews. It is called the inquisition.

Christopher Columbus received his commission about January 1, 1492. He would need about seven month to obtain and fit his three vessels and build his crews. In early May, the decree of the Spanish Inquisition was published. All Jews had three months to leave Spain.

As the tide began to turn, he was rowed out to the ship where his men waited, and assumed his first command crisply and confidently. In moments, and “in the name of Jesus,” the Santa Maria had weighed anchor, set sail, and was gliding down the river with the ebbing tide. As they reached the place where the Tinto joined the Saltés, just before emptying into the Ocean, a last shipload of Jews was also waiting for the tide. They too were leaving now, bound for the Mediterranean and lands of Islam. It is doubtful they thought of one another beyond a routine log entry. And even if they had, none of that forlorn shipload of Jewish exiles could have dreamed that the three other ships on the river were leading the way to a land which would one day provide the first welcome haven to their people.

Christopher Columbus is one of the few transformational figures in history. There can be no doubt the work he set out to accomplish that August in 1492 was indeed work for the cause of Christ.

DOES AMERICA ONCE MORE FACE A TYRANT? THE FIRST INDICTMENT

Perhaps it is indeed time to collect the evidence. Megyn Kelly has provided us with a beginning. On her June 17th, 2014 program, The Kelly File, Kelly asked,

“Is Obama’s presidency imploding?”

She responded with this indictment of President Obama:

  • Al Qaeda is resurging.
  • Iraq is disintegrating and now we may look to Iran to help us stop it—Iran—a terrorist regime responsible for the death thousands of American. What could possibly go wrong?
  • We have drawn red lines in Syria we refuse to enforce.
  • we stood by as Russia seized part of Ukraine.
  • And now we are releasing top Taliban leaders as the Afghanistan war is still going. Not to worry they tell us, Qatar will watch them, for a year, we hope…
  • Domestically we have a President who has lost the trust of the American people by repeatedly misleading them.
  • He bypasses Congress, the peoples representatives, on matters ranging from Obamacare to immigration law—to the point where one of the most respected liberal law professors in the country has called the President the very danger the Constitution was designed to avoid.
  • The American public overwhelmingly regrets Obamacare
  • Our Veterans are dying waiting to see doctors.
  • The IRS intimidates conservative groups,
  • the southern border is compared to a sieve and the President assures us not to worry…. smiling, golfing and at this very moment partying with fashion queen Anna Wintour.
  • The fundraising never stops; not when four Americans died in Benghazi and not when Bagdad is at the brink.”

These facts are so compelling one is moved to believe if a convention of the States gathered all the facts they would indeed show presidential tyranny.

THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE — AN INDICTMENT OF A TYRANT

Those of us who stand on the Declaration of Independence as our rock (Rock) as we argue for the restoration of individual Liberty and for all government to be under the control of We the People usually rely on the first and last paragraphs to make our case. We nearly ignore the indictment of King George III which comprises more than 70% of the Declaration. But these 1000 words clearly lay out that the only course available to the delegates of the 13 colonies for a future of freedom was to stand up to the tyrant. Those committed to restoration in America today must understand the importance of knowing the facts (in this case the indictment of the king) that demand action. Please take the time to understand how comprehensive Jefferson’s argument was. As we reclaim Constitutional Liberty in America, we must be as clear and powerfully persuasive. Here is the indictment of George III:

The history of the present King of Great Britain [George III] is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained, and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the meantime exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies, without the consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

  • For protecting them by a mock Trial from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:
  • For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:
  • For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:
  • For depriving us in many cases of the benefits of Trial by Jury:
  • For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences:
  • For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:
  • For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
  • For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

He has abdicated Government here by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to complete the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of cruelty and perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

THE ETERNAL MEANING OF INDEPENDENCE DAY

A friend, Linda, was understandably and rightly distressed. She went to a 4th of July Party in a very affluent neighborhood—live band and all. She found the others, including the band, had no interest in honoring the birth of America. Linda came face to face with a challenge of our times; too many Americans don’t know and don’t care how and why America was born—why we celebrate.

There are many effective ways to explain this exceptional country. Power Line’s Scott Johnson found a profound and compelling argument. It is Abraham Lincoln’s. Scott offered it July 4th, 2004 and every July 4th since. To honor America, Abraham Lincoln and Scott Johnson, here is Scott’s post in its entirety:

THE ETERNAL MEANING OF INDEPENDENCE DAY 

On July 9, 1858, Illinois Senator Stephen Douglas gave a campaign speech to a raucous throng from the balcony of the Tremont Hotel in Chicago. Abraham Lincoln was in the audience as Douglas prepared to speak. Douglas graciously invited Lincoln to join him on the balcony to listen to the speech. In his speech Douglas sounded the themes of the momentous campaign that Lincoln and Douglas waged that summer and fall for Douglas’s Senate seat.

Douglas paid tribute to Lincoln as a “kind, amiable, and intelligent gentleman, a good citizen and an honorable opponent,” but took issue with Lincoln’s June 16 speech to the Illinois Republican convention that had named him its candidate for Douglas’s seat. In that speech Lincoln had famously asserted that the nation could not exist “half slave and half free.” According to Douglas, Lincoln’s assertion belied the “diversity” in domestic institutions that was “the great safeguard of our liberties.” Then as now, “diversity” was a shibboleth hiding an evil institution that could not be defended on its own terms.

Douglas responded to Lincoln’s condemnation of the Supreme Court’s Dred Scott decision — a condemnation that was the centerpiece of Lincoln’s convention speech. “I am free to say to you,” Douglas said, “that in my opinion this government of ours is founded on the white basis. It was made by the white man, for the benefit of the white man, to be administered by white men, in such manner as they should determine.”

Lincoln invited Douglas’s audience to return the next evening for his reply to Douglas’s speech. Lincoln’s speech of July 10, 1858, is one of his many great speeches, but in one respect it is uniquely great. It concludes with an explanation of the meaning of this day to Americans with matchless eloquence and insight in words that remain as relevant now as then.

Now, it happens that we meet together once every year, sometime about the 4th of July, for some reason or other. These 4th of July gatherings I suppose have their uses. If you will indulge me, I will state what I suppose to be some of them.

We are now a mighty nation, we are thirty—or about thirty millions of people, and we own and inhabit about one-fifteenth part of the dry land of the whole earth. We run our memory back over the pages of history for about eighty-two years and we discover that we were then a very small people in point of numbers, vastly inferior to what we are now, with a vastly less extent of country,—with vastly less of everything we deem desirable among men,—we look upon the change as exceedingly advantageous to us and to our posterity, and we fix upon something that happened away back, as in some way or other being connected with this rise of prosperity. We find a race of men living in that day whom we claim as our fathers and grandfathers; they were iron men, they fought for the principle that they were contending for; and we understood that by what they then did it has followed that the degree of prosperity that we now enjoy has come to us. We hold this annual celebration to remind ourselves of all the good done in this process of time of how it was done and who did it, and how we are historically connected with it; and we go from these meetings in better humor with ourselves—we feel more attached the one to the other, and more firmly bound to the country we inhabit. In every way we are better men in the age, and race, and country in which we live for these celebrations. But after we have done all this we have not yet reached the whole. There is something else connected with it. We have besides these men—descended by blood from our ancestors—among us perhaps half our people who are not descendants at all of these men, they are men who have come from Europe—German, Irish, French and Scandinavian—men that have come from Europe themselves, or whose ancestors have come hither and settled here, finding themselves our equals in all things. If they look back through this history to trace their connection with those days by blood, they find they have none, they cannot carry themselves back into that glorious epoch and make themselves feel that they are part of us, but when they

look through that old Declaration of Independence they find that those old men say that “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,” and then they feel that that moral sentiment taught in that day evidences their relation to those men, that it is the father of all moral principle in them, and that they have a right to claim it as though they were blood of the blood, and flesh of the flesh of the men who wrote that Declaration [loud and long continued applause], and so they are. That is the electric cord in that Declaration that links the hearts of patriotic and liberty-loving men together, that will link those patriotic hearts as long as the love of freedom exists in the minds of men throughout the world. [Apl]

Now, sirs, for the purpose of squaring things with this idea of “don’t care if slavery is voted up or voted down” [Douglas’s “popular sovereignty” position on the extension of slavery to the territories], for sustaining the Dred Scott decision [A voice—“Hit him again”], for holding that the Declaration of Independence did not mean anything at all, we have Judge Douglas giving his exposition of what the Declaration of Independence means, and we have him saying that the people of America are equal to the people of England. According to his construction, you Germans are not connected with it. Now I ask you in all soberness, if all these things, if indulged in, if ratified, if confirmed and endorsed, if taught to our children, and repeated to them, do not tend to rub out the sentiment of liberty in the country, and to transform this Government into a government of some other form. Those arguments that are made, that the inferior race are to be treated with as much allowance as they are capable of enjoying; that as much is to be done for them as their condition will allow. What are these arguments? They are the arguments that kings have made for enslaving the people in all ages of the world. You will find that all the arguments in favor of king-craft were of this class; they always bestrode the necks of the people, not that they wanted to do it, but because the people were better off for being ridden. That is their argument, and this argument of the Judge is the same old serpent that says you work and I eat, you toil and I will enjoy the fruits of it. Turn in whatever way you will—whether it come from the mouth of a King, an excuse for enslaving the people of his country, or from the mouth of men of one race as a reason for enslaving the men of another race, it is all the same old serpent, and I hold if that course of argumentation that is made for the purpose of convincing the public mind that we should not care about this, should be granted, it does not stop with the negro. I should like to know if taking this old Declaration of Independence, which declares that all men are equal upon principle and making exceptions to it where will it stop. If one man says it does not mean a negro, why not another say it does not mean some other man? If that declaration is not the truth, let us get the Statute book, in which we find it and tear it out! Who is so bold as to do it!

Happy  Independence Day Patriots,

Let us pause today from our serious business of restoring America (Liberty) and rejoice in our wonderful American Experiment. Perhaps in words such as, “My country ‘tis of thee, Sweet land of Liberty.” Let us not forget that, while proud citizens of every country can sing, “My country ‘tis of thee,” only the American patriot can sing, “Sweet land of Liberty.”

But, steal a few minutes to celebrate the birth of America and Liberty in music such as these offerings.

UNDERSTANDING THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

Those looking for a secular Declaration of Independence are about to have their world and their worldview shattered. By the end of this Post you will know the powerful truth about the Christian character of the Declaration of Independence and of the men who adopted it.

Benjamin F. Morris wrote his 1060 page book, The Christian Life and Character of the Civil Institutions of the United States in 1864. The Second Continental Congress is a prime example. The Declaration is informed by the Holy Bible, Natural Law and the political philosophy of John Locke.
