Sadly this is quickly becoming the most disastrous period in American history
White House petition to try 47 Republican senators for treason goes viral screamed one of many headlines a couple days ago. If the White house were not involved in this Logan Act nonsense, it would be reasonably normal left wing Democrat/media bluster. That letter, standing in its own light, is not even close to a Logan Act violation. The President, on the other hand, is up to his neck in serious National Security breaches and almost certainly criminal statements and actions.
Rush quickly summarized Thursday, “We have to talk about this Iranian nuclear deal. I know it’s not sexy and I know that it’s kind of over there. But we need to bring it back here, ’cause it’s not good. It’s like everything else happening with this Regime. It just isn’t good. We’re not just transforming America, we are transforming the world, and we are reordering America’s position in the world. We are a country that has been placed into a state of decline on purpose.”
Our friend, Joel Pollak, at Breitbart.com has been on the President’s Iran-connected transgressions for three months. Pollak wrote Wednesday:
Obama’s explicit policy is to elevate a sworn enemy of the United States to a “regional power,” in what he has called a “new equilibrium” that would balance the Shia regime against Sunni powers and Israel. To that end, he has undermined existing UN Security Council resolutions negotiated by previous administrations that ban any nuclear enrichment at all by Iran. He has also turned a blind eye to Iranian terrorism–including attacks planned in the heart of Washington, D.C. on his watch.
Iran remains committed to destroying the United States, as well as Israel. It has the blood of hundreds, if not thousands, of American soldiers on its hands. It is engaged in war crimes in Syria and elsewhere, and continues to sponsor deadly terror attacks around the world, including attacks against civilian and diplomatic targets. Yet Obama is committed to elevating and supporting the Iranian regime–even to the point of failing to assist the Iranian opposition when it rose up in 2009.
Along the way, President Obama has neglected his oath of office, if not violated it outright. He has declared explicitly that whatever agreement he signs with Iran will not be subject to congressional approval, ignoring the Constitution’s explicit requirement that the Senate ratify treaties–certainly on issues as weighty as nuclear enrichment or armament. So Obama has not only failed to defend the country against a sworn enemy, but has failed to defend the U.S. Constitution itself.
… [I]f Obama were deliberately collaborating with the enemy, his policies would hardly look different. Add to that the fact that he refuses to identify radical Islamic terrorism in general as a threat, and the case against Obama becomes even stronger.
Former UN Ambassador John Bolton said treason in another way, “The Iran nuclear deal is an act of surrender.”
Secret back channel
But there is more. The hidden Obama strategy is to form “a full alliance with Iran throughout the Middle East and North Africa.”
It has been on display since before the beginning of the Obama administration. During his first presidential campaign in 2008, Mr. Obama used a secret back channel to Tehran to assure the mullahs that he was a friend of the Islamic Republic, and that they would be very happy with his policies.
But why wouldn’t or couldn’t candidate Obama just wait until 2009 to engage his prospective new partners as President, if he prevailed in the election? Because President Bush was as close as America has ever gotten to an agreement ensuring a non-nuclear Iran when Iran abruptly and inexplicitly ended the talks. Powerline’s John Hinderaker wrote Thursday:
In 2008, the Bush administration, along with the “six powers,” was negotiating with Iran concerning that country’s nuclear arms program. The Bush administration’s objective was to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. On July 20, 2008, the New York Times headlined: “Nuclear Talks With Iran End in a Deadlock.”
Now we learn that the “traitor” Obama intends to obtain a nonbinding agreement and get the United Nations Security Counsel ratification instead. Some see more than treason here. This is territory we have never gone before as a nation but we must open our minds to this from Rev. Franklin Graham:
There is an anti-Christian bias that is now in our government, has permeated our government, that’s also permeated Washington but [also] at the state and local level. It’s the progressives, whatever you want to call them, that are trying — and the president is into this and the attorney general is into this 100% — and that is, forcing on the American people a new morality. And it’s a morality that does not include God or His standards. That’s what we’re facing today.
It is an Anti-Christ movement that we’re seeing taking place.
